In partnership with Origin Energy, MIGAS is seeking a Gas Plant Trainee who wants to build a long-term career for themselves with a major local employer in the Western Downs. This traineeship opportunity is part of the 2025 Origin Apprentice and Trainee Intake with MIGAS Apprentices & Trainees.

About the job

As a Gas Plant Trainee hosted with Origin, your on-the-job training will involve being mentored by industry specialists working within a process plant, and given exposure to working in the field throughout the duration of your two-year traineeship. Duties will include monitoring process plant and equipment and analysing plant operating systems to ensure efficiency and safety are paramount, as well as identifying opportunities to optimise production, improve safety and lower costs. During your Gas Plant Traineeship you will complete PMA30120 Certificate III in Process Plant Operations.

About you

We're seeking a motivated, hardworking individual who is a team player and dedicated to building a career in the gas industry. Your dedication to safety will be paramount in your success with this role, and an understanding of the risks associated with working in a hydrocarbon environment is essential. Applicants who have previously completed qualifications or are currently in training within Mechanical or Electrical trades and are willing to cross-skill to this traineeship will be highly regarded. To be successful in this position, we’re looking for candidates with the following attributes: - Completed your schooling to at least a Year 10/12 certificate or equivalent - Genuine interest in pursuing a long-term career as a process plant operator - Strong attention to detail and an investigative mind – you can identify how the smallest things impact the bigger picture - Excellent analytical skills and a proactive attitude - Willing to work in different environments and physically challenging conditions (e.g. outdoors, in varied weather) - Maintain a high-level focus on safety and the environment following Origin safety processes and procedures. - Complete tasks to the highest quality following instructions of supervising tradespeople - Work collaboratively in designated teams - Commit to the completion of the qualification, submit assessments as required and attend all allocated shifts - Ability to confidently communicate in an effective manner - Good computer skills - You are ready to learn and develop strong health, safety and environment values and principles, while also committing to personal learning and development - You have reliable transport to and from work and hold a current manual driver’s licence with P Plate minimum - Ability to pass a Pre-Employment Medical, Drug and Alcohol Screen, and Police Check
