SES is a volunteer- based emergency and rescue service dedicated to assisting the Queensland community. We support our partner agencies with community resilience and preparedness activities, while also preparing for and responding to emergencies across Queensland 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, 365-days a year.
About the job
Put your desire to get involved to good use, become a SES volunteer and help your community in times of emergency and disaster. With a mix of operational and non-operational roles, there is something for everyone. All training and uniforms provided, for free. You can join from 16 years old with parental consent. Our volunteers perform a diverse range of functions to respond to local, state and national disasters and emergencies. By joining SES you will respond to many different types of activations as a result of disasters and emergencies including: -Storms -Floods -Cyclones -Rescues -Transportation incidents (road/rail/air) -Landslides -Searches for missing persons SES will undertake a check on your criminal history if you are over the age of 18. Past offences will be considered on a case-by-case basis and may or may not affect the success of your application. About you
You do not need any experience to become a volunteer as all training is provided, for free! There is a role for everyone. This is the perfect opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills and grow your resume. If you have an interest in a career with the ADF, Police Service, or other emergency services, then this is the best starting point to enhance your application.
What to expect
You will be provided with protective clothing and relevant equipment based on your role within the SES group. Training and education are ongoing for volunteers, and over time you can expect to develop your skills in the following areas: -first aid and CPR -map reading and navigation -how to operate a two-way radio -basic rescue -rescue from heights and depths -road crash rescue -flood boat rescue -emergency operations management -storm damage response -land search techniques -leadership and team-building -instructional techniques (training others)
